Blountstown and County Government
Blountstown contains the courthouse, principal county offices, schools, and local commercial services. It lies west of the Apalachicola River and connects with Liberty County across the river corridor.
The city is small, but it is the main administrative and service center for a county whose residents are spread across rural land. The map helps compare the compact county seat with the larger surrounding territory.
Altha and the Northern Rural Area
Altha is a small town in northern Calhoun County. Farms, forests, and unincorporated communities surround it, and local roads connect the area with Jackson County and Blountstown.
Blountstown and Altha are the county’s incorporated places, but much of the population lives outside municipal boundaries. The finished image should be checked before claiming that any additional unincorporated place is labeled.
Apalachicola River Bluffs
The Apalachicola River follows the eastern side of the county. High bluffs, hardwood forests, floodplains, and river habitats create scenery that differs from much of Florida’s flatter terrain.
Nearby Torreya State Park overlooks the river from Liberty County and protects the extremely rare torreya tree. Detailed park boundaries and trails should be checked on the official park map.
Chipola River, Farming, and Forestry
The Chipola River and its tributaries shape the western and central county landscape. Wetlands and floodplain forests meet cultivated fields, pine land, and wildlife habitat.
Agriculture and forestry are traditional forms of land use. Crops, livestock, pine, and timber production are important, but individual farms and ownership lines do not appear on a general county map.
Population and Rural Settlement
The 2025 estimate of 13,289 residents was 2.6 percent below the April 2020 estimates base. The 2020 census counted 13,648 residents, compared with 14,625 in 2010.
Population is concentrated around Blountstown and transportation routes, while large areas remain lightly settled. Viewing the full boundary provides more context than looking only at the county seat.
Color Map
The color version separates Calhoun County from neighboring counties. It is suited to presentations that need Blountstown, Altha, the Apalachicola River side, and the inland Panhandle location in one view.

Black-and-White Map
The black-and-white map removes color fills but keeps the county outline and selected place names. It can be printed in grayscale while retaining the main location information.

Outline Map
The outline version contains boundary lines without existing labels or fills. Users can add Blountstown, Altha, river directions, forests, neighboring counties, or project notes.
