LaBelle and County Government
LaBelle is the county seat and a historic city along the Caloosahatchee River. The courthouse, county offices, schools, businesses, riverfront parks, and local services are concentrated there.
Citrus, ranching, river transportation, and the annual Swamp Cabbage Festival contribute to the city’s identity.
Clewiston and Lake Okeechobee
Clewiston lies on the southwestern side of Lake Okeechobee and is closely associated with freshwater fishing, boating, airboat tours, and agriculture.
Sugarcane fields and related industries surround much of the city. Lake levels, levee access, boat ramps, and fishing regulations can change.
Caloosahatchee River and Okeechobee Waterway
The Caloosahatchee River flows west from Lake Okeechobee and passes LaBelle on its route toward the Gulf Coast. It supports navigation, agriculture, flood control, and regional water management.
Locks, canals, and water-control operations vary with weather and water conditions. Official navigation information is required for boating.
Agriculture and Big Cypress Landscapes
Large sugarcane and agricultural areas dominate the eastern county, while ranches, wetlands, and landscapes near Big Cypress extend across the west and south.
Agricultural canals, protected lands, and private-property boundaries are complex and require current official maps.
