The Harris County Georgia map covers a west-central Georgia county between Columbus, Pine Mountain, and the Alabama line. Hamilton serves as the county seat, while Pine Mountain supports tourism and southern communities connect with the Columbus and Fort Moore employment area.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimated 37,280 residents on July 1, 2025, a 7.5 percent increase from the 2020 estimates base. The 2020 census counted 34,668 people, compared with 32,024 in 2010.

County Formation and Early Government
Harris County was created in December 1827 from parts of Muscogee and Troup counties. It was named for Charles Harris, a Savannah attorney and former mayor.
Hamilton was incorporated in 1828 and became the county seat. The current courthouse dates to 1908 and was later renovated and expanded.
Map Coverage and File Options
This Harris County Georgia map set contains color, black-and-white, and outline A3 JPG files. The labeled versions support regional reference, while the outline file leaves room for custom municipal, tourism, water, transportation, or recreation information.
Hamilton, Pine Mountain, Waverly Hall, Shiloh, and part of West Point are incorporated areas in the county. Because no finished source image accompanied the request, the article does not claim that every community appears on every labeled map.
Pine Mountain and a Tourism Economy
Pine Mountain is the gateway to Callaway Gardens and much of F.D. Roosevelt State Park. Gardens, lakes, golf, lodging, trails, seasonal events, and nearby attractions make tourism a major part of the county economy.
The 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail crosses forested ridges and park land. The mountain landscape also links visitors with Warm Springs in neighboring Meriwether County.
Hamilton and Central County Services
Hamilton contains county government, the courthouse, school administration, and local businesses. Its central position makes it a practical link between northern recreation areas and southern communities near Columbus.
The city remains small and is surrounded by farms, woods, and low-density housing. Its government role is more important than its population size.
Waverly Hall, Shiloh, and Rural Communities
- Waverly Hall developed as a railroad stop in southeastern Harris County.
- Shiloh is the county’s smallest incorporated city.
- Cataula, Ellerslie, and Fortson are unincorporated communities influenced by the Columbus commuter area.
- Pine Mountain Valley lies in the mountain and rural northern section.
- Whitesville serves the western border area.
These communities retain farms, churches, forests, schools, and widely spaced homes. Growth is stronger toward the south, where residents have access to Columbus and Fort Moore employment.
West Point, Lake Harding, and the Chattahoochee
West Point extends across the Harris–Troup county line near Alabama and the Chattahoochee River. The Harris County side includes business and development land connected with the western Georgia industrial corridor.
Lake Harding covers about 5,850 acres and forms part of the county’s western edge. Boating, fishing, water skiing, shoreline homes, and seasonal recreation distinguish this area from the central rural interior.
Growth, Nature, and Regional Connections
Harris County has retained a low-density rural character while adding residents since 2020. Tourism, public services, construction, small business, agriculture, and commuting support the local economy.
The county’s location creates three major connections: Columbus and Fort Moore to the south, Alabama across the Chattahoochee to the west, and Pine Mountain tourism to the north.
