Do mapped class differences cluster around today’s developed centers or also occur in rural forest and wetland areas? Those questions use the maps for what they actually show and avoid turning a general land-cover product into a parcel or regulatory dataset.

Washington County can also be compared with other agricultural counties, but the local pattern should not be reduced to the agriculture percentage alone. Two counties with similar farm shares may have very different locations of forest, wetlands, developed centers, and high-impervious surfaces.
