이산화탄소 배출, 교육 기간처럼 특정 연도의 구조를 보여주는 지표도 함께 보면 경제 규모와 생활·산업 구조가 서로 다른 속도로 움직였다는 점이 드러난다. 경제 규모는 확대됐지만 인구 흐름은 최근 달라졌다 실질 GDP는 장기적으로 크게 확대됐고 2020년의 일시적 후퇴 이후 다시 상승했다. 반면 인구는 1980년대 후반부터 오랫동안 늘다가 2020년 전후부터 정체와 소폭 감소가 교차하는 구간으로 바뀌었다. 경제 규모와 인구 규모가 같은 속도로 움직이지 않는다는 점은 중요한 변화다. 국가 총인구만으로 수도권과 비수도권의 차이를 알 수 없지만, 최근의 인구 정체는 노동·주거·교육·교통 수요를 해석할 때 별도의 기준점이 된다. 산업 비중과 산업 성장률은 서로 다른 질문에 답한다 산업 부가가치의 GDP 비중은 장기간 여러 차례 상승과 하락을 반복했다. 최근에는 2022년의 낮은 구간 이후 다시 높아졌지만, 비중이 오른다고 해서 산업 생산액이 같은 비율로 늘었다는 뜻은 아니다. 2025년의 산업·건설 부가가치 성장률은 한 해의 성장 속도를 보여주는 별도 지표다. 장기적인 산업 비중과 단일 연도의 성장률을 함께 보면 산업의 상대적 위치와 최근 성장 방향을 구분할 수 있다.
